About Jinja

Jinja is a town in the eastern part of Uganda, on the shores of lake victoria. The source of the Nile lies in this historical city. Owen Falls Dam and Bujagali dam both span the Nile. Farther north of the river, Itanda falls is known for it’s white water rapids. East of jinja, on lake victoria, samuka island is home of birdlife, including little egrets. Jinja is known to be the adventure capital of Uganda with a lot of adventure activities. Jinja is currently the adrenaline capital of East Africa.

However, with all these attractions, jinja has been dormant in the arts and culture field. With all activities being tribal and lots of factories. As Ensibuko Arts Foundation, we are elevating the dance and arts industry in jinja and beyond. Through these arts we are creating a new generation of community conscious leaders, empowering communities, addressing social issues, rehabilitating and healing people. We have created safe spaces where young people meet and experiment, exchange share knowledge and skills. You can contribute by becoming a volunteer, artist in residency, partner or sponsor, check our contribution forms on the home page.
