About Jinja

Jinja is a town in the eastern part of Uganda, on the shores of lake victoria. The source of the Nile lies in this historical city. Owen Falls Dam and Bujagali dam both span the Nile. Farther north of the river, Itanda falls is known for it’s white water rapids. East of jinja, on lake victoria, samuka island is home of birdlife, including little egrets. Jinja is known to be the adventure capital of Uganda with a lot of adventure activities. Jinja is currently the adrenaline capital of East Africa.

However, with all these attractions, jinja has been dormant in the arts and culture field. Jinja being the industrial city of Uganda, all urban culture and arts funders focusing on kampala, we want to focus on these Les privileged spaces. As Ensibuko Arts Foundation, we are elevating the dance and arts industry in jinja and the surrounding areas. Through these arts we are creating a new generation of community conscious leaders, empowering communities, addressing social issues, rehabilitating and healing people. We have created safe spaces where young people meet, , learn and experiment, exchange, share knowledge and skills. We are working to turn jinja into an international cultural hub.
