Dance Shade

Dance Shade is an international multi-technique dance program, performance puzzle, Residency, ‘hatchery’, incubator, laboratory and interactive platform aimed at promoting international artistic exchanges between dancers, dance researchers, curators, dance producers and choreographers. Participants are moved to explore the contemporary spirit and rituals of performativity in multicultural societies and cultures, as well as questions of social, political, spiritual and cultural understandings.  Dance Shade consists of research, workshops, presentations, exchanges, artistic talks, lectures, tours and experimental performative/participatory works. The 2022 cohort is scheduled for 10th – 23rd October.  Projects or processes developed in the Dance Shade will be eligible for exhibition at Ensibuko Festival.

If selected for the dance Shade Programme, the recipients need to find a financial contribution (EUR 720) in order to secure their participation. The fee covers program expenses including the artist participation, accommodation in jinja, and one meal/day. Paid by artists themselves or from funding institutions. The fee does not include travel, per diem, visa and insurance expenses! Ensibuko Arts Foundation will help you with all necessary documents and support for your fundraising and grant application plans on request.
